We've been stressing about this, that, and the other, so we decided to escape our little world and head to the Big Lake. Presque Isle, you are a great sight to see when you think your mind is about to explode from over thinking and worrying about things.
Bits hikes the boardwalk like no other two-year-old, heading up and down multiple flights of stairs with only a Mommy's hand to assist him. We made in to the refreshing Lake and let the calm soak in by way of chilly waters. Bits has no hesitation in heading into the cold water, and had the most fun burying his truck in the pebbles and sand.
I got to spend a few minutes blowing up his Cars water ring, and then needed a few more minutes to reinflate my lungs and resist the urge to pass out from lack of oxygen. I sat just close enough to the water to take pics. of the stones without setting my feet in, but close enough to get splashes of water from the slight waves hitting against the rocky shoreline. Mike took a dip and almost joined him while unskillfully walking on slime covered rocks. The rest of the time I sat sans shoes and socks on a large smooth rock shelf right on the edge of the water.
There's nothing like resting your body and mind out in the sun by Lake Superior, oh, and I gathered no driftwood this time at all.
Amy, I love those photos of the wood, 655 and 656! Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWe went to Sleeper State Park beach on Sunday in the thumb to get away from it all too. Michigan is a great place to be.
ReplyDeleteAmen - Great pictures as always. We almost went to Sleeper on Sunday - ended up in Tawas instead. Still counting the days to LGP!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stones. And that wood is great! I love the curves of it. Hope your life is feeling calmer and easier after your time at the lake.
