Two Rocks and A Line

This is an additional post from Mike's and my trip to Duluth the other weekend. I clicked away at here and there, he kept walking and then I'd have to play catch-up, but come on are some of these pics worth having to run after your husband yelling, "Wait-up!"? I found 4 pieces of lake glass without even trying; my eyes saw their glimmer in the sun as I walked along the board walk (I am now that good, and a true lake glass picker-upper professional). I think I'll be like fly-fishermen, never to reveal my best beach glass fishing holes, and to offer up a different somewhat believable location if anyone asks.

yup

If I hadn't bragged to you about how much lake glass I had found the other weekend then I guess you should call more often. Anywho, I found a bunch and have been pondering what to do with it all. Rather than become the hoarder that some of you already think I am when it comes to lake glass, driftwood and stones, I came up with a crafty solution.

Check out my new pieces under the title of "yup". The idea is beng an Upper Peninusla Yuppie. What it translates to is funny sayings and using up vintage materials, oh, and shopping more at thrift stores.

A Perfect Spot for a sometimes Rainy Day

The rain held off for most of our Saturday adventure to Presque Isle on Lake Superior. Grandma and Grandpa G. and Uncle Uke (still working on that elusive "l" sound) joined us for a cloudy day at the Big Lake. Bits threw stone after stone into the lake, and I gathered a few pieces of my green favorites. Bits found a dead crab and presumed to pick it up, throw it down when Mommy said ewww and then smash it with a rock, until Mommy said ewww to that too. He was obsessed with this dead thing as I'm sure all little boys should be, but it was seriously gross.

Mike caught a fish, then lost a fish off the banks of the river. So to calm his spirit and offer encouragement, I sat with him at a spring runoff pool where we had more fun guessing where the fish were then actually snagging any. I have to tell you, the spot where I was sitting was the most relaxing, tranquil place to keep the spitting rain off you while watching it make ripples in the water. There is a log submerged just below the water and it's golden color is something to loose hours upon staring at. If I had sat there any longer and more quitely, I'm sure a bear would have come along and ate me.
